About Euroventure Travel

Euroventure was dreamt up in 2012 by brothers Phil and Kevin Cabra Netherton.
Since then, we have grown in size and put together an incredible young and dynamic team. Each staff member is a travel aficionado with a wealth of backpacking and travel experience, so that we can provide you with the best service across all areas of our work!

As well as our responsibility to the environment, we also recognise our impact on local communities as part of the tourist industry. First and foremost, we are highly aware of the potential impact of mass tourism on local communities, which is why we always aim to encourage sustainable travel, whilst promoting travel as a means of building cultural understanding.

We do not oversell destinations which suffer from too much tourism. We have a certain number of hostel beds available and once these spaces are filled we stop offering the destination to ensure that we don't contribute to the issue of overtourism. We always endeavour to provide ‘less touristy’, locally owned destinations and suggestions for sightseeing in each city that you'll visit. For example on this trip, you’ll visit the towns of Portrush and Galway, both off the beaten track and not commonly travelled to. These towns are both lovely and unique in their own way. Going through smaller places like this is supports local businesses which usually don’t receive many visitors.
We have taken the time out to meet with and forge strong personal relationships with our partner hostels and hotels on this trip, in order to benefit both customers, as well as local businesses. Through them we recommend locally based tours, excursions and activities which provide income to local businesses.

We make sure customers are aware of the positive impact they can have on the destinations they are visiting, in particular the smaller businesses. It’s easy to overlook the positive economic stimulus you can have by frequenting local businesses such as shops and restaurants, which is why we make sure all our customers have knowledge of this. We encourage travellers to sample the local cuisine, stay away from global chains and speak to locals for the best recommendations. Some of these are also listed in the personalised travel pack all our customers receive. Not only does this result in a more authentic travel experience, traveling with us will empower you to support locally run businesses and give the opportunity to truly get to know local people.

Back at the office, staff are encouraged to pursue charity projects and volunteering which contribute to the local community, we offer flexible hours to accommodate these projects. In the past year three of our staff have undertaken and continue to undertake regular volunteering, including; teaching English to refugees living in Leeds, providing mental health coaching and support to girls in a local primary school, and helping with rehabilitation projects in a local prison. In addition, staff are encouraged to participate in charity fundraising. In 2017 a team of staff members took part in Race for Life to raise money for Breast Cancer UK.

Our 2023 Group Tours are currently only available for fully vaccinated travellers, to help keep you safe and cause minimal disruption to the group as a whole.

We'll check in advance for any COVID restrictions in each of the cities you'll visit on your group tour, and let you know of any forms or paperwork that need to be filled in ahead of arriving there.

We still encourage using face coverings on public transport especially, and all of our partner hostels are checked to make sure their hygiene and cleaning policies are up to our standards! ....less

We Declare a Climate Emergency

We’ve signed up to Tourism Declares, an initiative that supports tourism businesses, organisations and individuals in declaring a climate emergency and taking purposeful action to reduce their carbon emissions as per the advice from The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to cut global carbon emissions to 55% below 2017 levels by 2030.

Like all signatories, we have committed to the following five actions:

1. Develop a ‘Climate Emergency Plan’ within the next 12 months, which sets out our intentions to reduce carbon emissions over the next decade.

2. Share an initial public declaration of our ‘Climate Emergency Plan’, and update on progress each year.

3. Accept current IPCC advice stating the need to cut global carbon emissions to 55% below 2017 levels by 2030 in order to keep the planet within 1.5 degrees of warming. We’ll ensure our ‘Climate Emergency Plan’ represents actions designed to achieve this as a minimum, through delivering transparent, measurable and increasing reductions in the total carbon emissions per customer arising from our operations and the travel services sold by us.

4. Encourage our suppliers and partners to make the same declaration; sharing best practice amongst peers, and actively participate in the Tourism Declares community.

5. Advocate for change. We recognise the need for system change across the industry and call for urgent regulatory action to accelerate the transition towards zero-carbon air travel.

Through TourHub, Euroventure offers a great range of our group tour products, where you can join a group of up to 20 people aged between 18 - 35 and travel around different parts of Europe together.

You'll be guided by one of our experienced tour leaders, who will be able to answer any questions you have and be sure to get you safely to your hostel, train or included activity in each city.

Before the tour begins, you'll be well informed on what to expect, be given a PDF travel pack with further information, offered extra and optional activities, and added to a WhatsApp group with the rest of the people on your tour so you can start getting to know each other before you meet. ....less

Since February 2020, Euroventure has been operating as a carbon negative business. This means that we not only offset the carbon that our staff and trips produce, but we have reduced it by 200%, ensuring that we make a positive contribution towards the environment.

The scheme works by contributing to a reforestation effort which will help to re-populate the vast areas of woodland lost in the 2020 Australian wildfires. This unprecedented disaster caused massive damage to Australia’s eco-system, and without efforts to re-plant and re-build the country is likely to continue to suffer as their carbon output rises dramatically.

We hold a unique position in the travel industry in that the majority of our trips are done entirely by rail, with other low-carbon methods of transport such as coaches being used where trains are unavailable. ....less

We promise to fund enough carbon capture schemes to not only counterbalance the carbon that Euroventure produces as a business but offset the same amount again, actively helping to reduce global warming.
